Saying Goodbye to Bill Childs
William “Bill” P. Childs recently passed away in Dorset, Vermont.
Bill was inducted into the Platform Tennis Hall of Fame in 2005, along with his long-time partner and brother, David Childs. Competing with his brother and various other partners, Bill accumulated 23 titles in Men’s Masters and Mixed Masters Nationals tournaments. His dance card was always full.
Bill donated many years to the APTA, serving on the board with a focus on senior activities. He also taught paddle and chaired national and regional tournaments.
To all who knew Bill—the Childs family, his friends, and his paddle contemporaries—the APTA sends its warmest regards and deepest condolences. Bill will be missed.
