A powerful competitor who always looks for fun on the court, Ellie Halbauer is one to watch

Facts

Hometown: Cincinnati, Ohio

Tennis Career: Played on the Women’s Tour for 10 years, reaching 260.  [Had a win against Taylor Townsend in 2017.]

Paddle Career: Director of Junior Racquets at Kenwood Country Club. Anne Turner at Lyceum gave me a free hour lesson in paddle after seeing me play pickleball and I got hooked.

Favorite tennis moment: I was playing at the U.S. Open and remember going into the cafeteria and seeing Rafa Nadal eating. I could almost touch him.

Favorite paddle moment: Honestly, playing my first match with Jill Jackson because she promised that I'd have fun and I did. If you're not having fun, then don't come out on the court.

Strength: Definitely my backhand.

Loves The Midwesterns: It’s played at our home club and I loved wearing the button to support Angelman Syndrome last year.

Bonus Fact: Ellie reached the finals at the 2024 APTA Women’s Nationals (with Gabi Niculescu) in just her second full season competing.
