Hut of the Month: Huntington Country Club, Huntington, NY

single-blog

Huntington Country Club replaced its A-frame clubhouse with a light-filled chalet at 3x the original capacity.

FACTS

Name: The Chalet

Interior: Wooden beams as a nod to the original hut, beverage and kitchen area, comfy seating space, wall of glass facing five paddle courts, stone fireplace, large screen TV, new pro shop.

Decks: The standout feature of the hut—Square deck on back with seating areas, firepits, and direct access to tennis courts. Long rectangular deck overlooking paddle courts, with rails to lean on and place drinks. A covered deck in the back on the tennis court side (used as a player-only lounge during Nationals.)

Landscape: High grasses on the hillsides—the light reflects off them and creates a photographer’s dream backdrop. The courts are set in a bowl, for optimal viewing on both sides.

Commentators: Lisa Rudloff—Director of Racquets, Beth DiTolla—long-time member, Andy Staib—former Paddle Tennis Chair, Glenn Cruetz—Golf Course Superintendent
