Tournament Director Wes Dinsel writes: For the fifth year in a row, Unionville High School (UHS) Habitat for Humanity campus chapter club and UHS paddle club organized a paddle fundraiser tournament. All proceeds for the event went to Habitat for Humanity Chester County. This year the event raised over $7,500. We had a great turnout with 40 teams playing. The women played at Radley Run Country Club (RRCC) and Vicmead Hunt Club while the men played at Concord Country Club (CCC). We want to thank Sarah Dinsel, Ron Pinsky, Jeremiah De Rose, and Laurie Hissey for volunteering their day to run the brackets. The Mid-Atlantic Platform Tennis Association (MAPTA) once again made a sizable donation. Thank you.
The men had a 16 team draw and everyone had at least three matches. The women's draw was 24 teams this year. Wow, what a turnout! Good matches were played throughout the day and the ladies shook all the rust off and are ready for their season.
During and after play, everyone enjoyed donated beverages. We would also like to acknowledge the Habitat for Humanity staff member Jason Pryrah, Director of Operations, who came out to talk about the organization. Overall, it was a magnificent day of fun paddle to prepare everyone for the upcoming paddle season and over $7,500 will help build new houses, to those in need, in Chester County.
