Your Front-Row Seat to the APTA Tour: What’s New in Live Streaming This Season

More platform tennis, more stats and info, more options to watch, more commentary. This season, the APTA Tour is streaming more courts and earlier rounds than ever, with new tools that make it easier to follow the action wherever you are. Here’s what’s new.

What’s New On the Stream:

  1. Streaming More Matches –  Catch matches from early in the draw and watch more courts at every tournament. Follow your favorite players, up-and-coming pros, veterans, or even a beloved grandchild. Check out the Medinah Cup Playlist to see how much of the draw is now on stream.
  2. Wire2Wire – New this season, Wire2Wire follows simultaneous action across multiple courts in a single stream. Commentators chime in on all the matches in one bracket. Watch the Men’s Quarterfinals from the Delaware Open to see Wire2Wire in action.
  3. Court Director – Follow every point as it happens. Court Director brings live scores and stats from the same system our umpires use courtside, and enhanced stats also appear on the stream during changeovers and match wrap-ups. Follow the draws at home, on site, or while driving the kids around. Look for the live scores link in the Tour live streaming emails. None of this happens without our umpires and volunteer sideline scorers. Thank you!
  4. APTA YouTube Archive – Explore a large library of current and past Tour matches. It’s a great way to study shot-making and strategy from the best in the game.
  5. New Rules – Wait, is live streaming creating new rules in our historic game? Only where the cameras are concerned, and the calls follow the logic of existing rules:
    • If a ball hits a Live Stream camera mounted on the top beam, the ball is out.
    • If a ball hits any Live Stream equipment mounted to the court or umpire chair, the ball is out.
    • If a ball hits a corner camera the ball is in play, but the umpire may request the Live Stream provider to adjust the camera to be less intrusive in the court.

Live streaming keeps evolving, and the APTA is keeping pace thanks to Board President Anne Waldron, Director of Tournaments Karen Nejedlik, Jake Karetsky with Streambox Labs, and IT Director Mark Thomford, the creator of Court Director.

More courts, more matches, more ways to watch. Subscribe to the APTA on YouTube and turn on notifications so you never miss match point. See you on the stream!
