Tennis CareerMike was a wrestler and a hockey hopeful.
Paddle CareerI grew up playing paddle. My parents helped put in courts in a park in Toronto [known as the Kingsway Paddle Club].
Paddle Resume1989 Boys 18s Junior Nationals Champion (w/ Chris Jackson). Two-time Men’s Nationals Champion, 2005 (w/ Bill Anderson) and 2011 (w/ Mark Parsons). Three-time Married Mixed Nationals Champion, 2008, 2011, and 2013 and 2008 Mixed Nationals Champion (w/ wife Kerri Delmonico), and four-time Men’s Masters 45+ National Champion 2015 (w/ Jeffrey Morneau) and 2016-2018 (w/ Scott Estes, Jr.).
Favorite Paddle MomentsFor me in general it is just the community. I love how people play hard and then relax and have a good time. Players respect each other.
StrengthsI like being close to the net and volleying. I do think the drop shot should be used a lot more.
Bonus Facts1) Mike won his first Nationals after taking a bus from NYC to Pittsburgh, arriving at midnight to find himself locked out of the house, and sleeping in a car in the driveway. 2) He was a long-time member and Chair of the APTA Rules Committee. 3) He once stood in the rain for four hours umpiring three consecutive Junior National Championship matches.

If you haven’t played the sport, play! It’s a lot of fun and we are great people.
